Junior Staff Accountant

SUMMARY: Assists in maintaining financial records by analyzing
balance sheets and general ledger accounts. Processes and posts
journal entries to ensure business transactions are recorded.
Updates accounts receivable and issues invoices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
Records Cash Receipts against customer accounts; researches and
resolves discrepancies with customers.
Reconciles Accounts Receivable module with the general ledger.
Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales/use tax
filings with various municipalities and state governments.
Interfaces monthly job billing into the accounting system and
reviews for accuracy against contract documents.
Assists the Controller and Asst. Controller with the monthly close
process and preparation of financial statements.
Researches uncleared checks on a monthly basis and resolves any
open issues with the AP Manager.
Works with AP staff to research disputed AP payments to vendors and
facilitate resolution.
Performs monthly import of credit card transactions into the
accounting system.
Manages and analyzes AR Aging and works with customers to resolve
open balances.
Assists the Payroll Administrator in the weekly payroll process
Performs reconciliations between ERP modules and the general
ledger.
Perform monthly barge inventory reconciliations ensuring job cost
reporting and inventory reporting tie to the general ledger.
Prepare and distribute various analytical reports to asst.
management in making informed decisions and catch trends before
they become issues.
Assists department in preparation for various audits that occur
during the year.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual

Education/Experience: Accounting degree or Business Degree with
focus in Accounting.
Language Ability: ability to effectively communicate and respond to
questions from manager, clients, customers, and internal team.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple
correspondence.
Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to
carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several
concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: to perform this job successfully, an individual
should have strong knowledge and experience with Excel and other
Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Word. Vista
Viewpoint experience preferred, but not required.
Physical Presence: Regular and predictable physical presence in the
corporate office is an essential qualification for this position
due to the importance of the aggressive timeframes under which the
employee will operate, and the need for face-to-face interaction
with the Accounting team to properly perform job-related
functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory
responsibilities.

Pay Range: 80,000 - 90,000 per year
