Engineer is responsible for supporting the inspection, review, and
quality control of electrical substation assets to ensure system
safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards. This
role functions as part of a specialized engineering group that
coordinates asset inspections, evaluates engineering and inspection
data, and provides technical consultation to internal stakeholders
as needed. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and support substation
asset inspections, condition assessments, and engineering reviews.
Perform quality control (QC) reviews of engineering documents,
designs, and inspection reports. Evaluate substation equipment and
systems to ensure compliance with PG&E standards, applicable
codes, and industry best practices. Provide technical consultation
and engineering guidance to internal stakeholders, field personnel,
and project teams. Review and validate inspection findings,
identify risks, and recommend corrective actions. Support
reliability, safety, and asset management initiatives across
transmission and distribution substations. Collaborate with
multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams in a remote
environment. Participate in occasional site visits or field
walkdowns as required. Required Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated
knowledge of electrical substation systems, including transmission
and distribution substations. Ability to review, interpret, and
evaluate substation inspection reports, engineering drawings,
specifications, and technical documentation. Experience performing
or supporting asset inspections, condition assessments, and quality
control (QC) reviews. Working knowledge of substation equipment,
such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection and
control systems, grounding systems, and associated structures.
Ability to identify non-conformances, risks, and deficiencies and
recommend corrective actions in accordance with engineering
standards. Understanding of applicable codes, standards, and
utility practices, including safety and compliance requirements
relevant to substation engineering. Strong analytical and
problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical
issues. Ability to provide technical guidance and consultation to
engineering, operations, and inspection teams. Proficiency in
preparing clear, accurate, and well-organized technical reports and
documentation. Effective written and verbal communication skills,
including the ability to communicate technical information to
non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently in a
remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed
teams. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the
ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Proficiency with
standard engineering and business software tools (e.g., Microsoft
Office or equivalent). Ability to support occasional field visits
and participate in onsite training as required. Commitment to
safety, quality, and reliability in all engineering activities.
Travel up to 10%. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in
Electrical Engineering preferred. Civil Engineers may be considered
if they possess significant substation engineering experience.
Working Conditions: After the initial on-site training, this
position is primarily remote, with occasional field support as
needed and determined by supervisor. The physical demands described

required to move about the inside and outside of the location to
access office equipment, etc. The person in this position
frequently communicates with employees and must be able to exchange
accurate information in these situations. Constantly operates a
