Overview
The behavioral health provider position joins a dynamic, passionate
and dedicated health care team, collaboratively working with
medical providers, nurses, medical assistants, receptionists and
other members of the organization. The behavioral health provider
provides assessment and treatment services to Marin Community
Clinic (MCC) patients across the lifespan with behavioral health
needs. The behavioral health provider is considered an expert in
behavioral health, and as such provides formal and informal
consultation, training and support to the healthcare team and other
staff and providers in the area of behavioral health. Behavioral
Health Providers have the opportunity to work with patients across
the lifespan and with a wide variety of clinical presentations.
BHPs may also be asked to develop and/or facilitate
psycho-educational support groups; and may conduct visits via
virtual telehealth technology.
The BHP is welcomed as part of the primary care team and is
supported by the robust and dynamic behavioral health department
through regular meetings, case conferences, and peer supervision.

Covid-19 Vaccination and Boosters Requirements: -
All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19,
including "health-care" required boosters as a condition of
employment, subject to limited exemptions. New employees are
required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19
and boosted before the first day of employment. If you completed
your primary series, received an original booster and it has been
more than 2 months from that booster dose, it is recommended, but
not required that you receive the Bivalent booster.
Responsibilities
Foundational Orientation:
- Supports the mission, vision and values of Marin Community

for whole person care at Marin Community Clinics, to patients,
their families, and co-workers.
- Models the principles and practices of evidenced based
communication, including skillful listening, displaying a

- Models empathy and compassion for clients and their families,
especially those with historically stigmatized conditions, such as
chronic pain, addictive disorders, severe mental health conditions,
homelessness and maladaptive behaviors such as anger problems,
through the use of non-stigmatizing speech (in communicating
directly with patients or about patients), skilled empathy
conveyance and professionalism in the face of difficult
interactions, and promoting a spirit of understanding and

better individualize patient
Foundational Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides evidence-based treatment to MCC patients (adults and
children) with "mild to moderate" behavioral health needs,
including: assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, short
term therapy, crisis intervention and safety planning, coaching,
referrals and case management in-person and via telehealth
modalities.
- May be asked to develop and lead or co-lead
psychoeducational/therapeutic groups
- Skillfully engages patients and their families in their own
healthcare and wellbeing, using strategies to increase their
motivation and desire for improved
- Collaboratively develops flexible scheduling practices in order
to best meet patients' needs, including a mix of scheduled
appointments, unscheduled 'warm-hand offs'; and 'check -ins'.
(In-person and/or via telehealth).
- Shares knowledge and expertise in an accessible, respectful and
friendly manner with co- workers and colleagues, both in informal
and formal learning activities.
- Collaboratively develops multi-disciplinary work flows,
clinical pathways, and other practices, to maximize the benefits of
team care for
- Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a licensed
psychologist, with valid California State License and
Registration
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relational
skills
- Ability and desire to work both independently and as a core
member of a team
- Flexibility, adaptability and high tolerance for
ambiguity
- Able to effectively communicate about behavioral health
philosophies, principles, conditions, treatments and needs, to both
patients and staff, to promote understanding and decrease
- Ability to see 4 patients per 4 hour shift.
- Proficiency to conduct session in Spanish

Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with local resources
- Experience with and passion for working with populations with
varying ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic status,
including Latinx and refugee populations;
- Experience working in non-traditional mental health settings,
and with non-traditional scheduling practices
- Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary
team
- Experience with running groups
- Prior experience working in a shared electronic medical record
EPIC a plus
Desirable Qualifications -in Clinical Orientation
- Understanding that the therapeutic alliance is
trans-theoretical, and is of overarching importance, outweighing
any individual therapy technique, the following are desirable areas
of clinical experience and competency for the position:
- Experience and comfort in providing assistance in difficult
conversations, escalations, and other complex interpersonal
situations
- Highly trained in Motivational Interviewing
- Experience in treating substance use disorders and other
addictive disorders
- Experience as a BH generalist: competent and comfortable
treating children, adolescents, adults, the elderly; those with
mild or moderate BH needs, as well as those with more severe
mental
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- College Diploma
- California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license
or;
- California Psychologist license (PhD or PsyD)
- Current BLS certification
- Valid California Driver's License
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Prolonged - prioeds of sitting at a desk and workong on a
computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Ability to drive to clinics and other locations in the communty
(if applicable)

Hiring Bonus: $10,000.00 (May be eligible for up to $10,000.00
hiring bonus - if working full time status)
