This is a full-time, contract role in the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic . The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, providing top-tier pediatric eye care. Key Details: Job Title : Ophthalmic Technician Location : 747 52nd St, Oakland, CA 94609 Unit : 727350 - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Shift : 8-hour Day Shift (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM) Start Date : 07/14/2025 Job Duration : 13 weeks with possible extension Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists in patient examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable experience for patients, including children. Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and recording medical history. Maintain accurate medical records and assist with EMR systems. Educate patients on procedures and post-operative care while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Ensure a clean and aseptic environment in the clinic, demonstrating strong communication skills during patient interactions. Key Skills: Proficiency in diagnostic equipment such as A-Scans, Autorefractor, Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer , and Fluorescein Angiography Familiarity with pediatric eye disorders including Amblyopia, Childhood Cataracts, Glaucoma , and Retinopathy of Prematurity Expertise in performing eye exams, visual field testing , and other ophthalmic procedures like Tonometry , Keratometry , and Lensometry Strong patient communication skills and ability to educate patients on ocular care Knowledge of pediatric eye treatments and the ability to work with infants, children, and adolescents Work Environment: Pediatric outpatient clinic with a daily census of 20-30 patients Average of 5 patient visits per day Use of state-of-the-art equipment , including OCT, Slit Lamp, Pentacam , and Tonometer
