Job Description:

Software Development & Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA. This role requires a mandatory face-to-face interview at our Sunnyvale office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing software and web applications as part of the Xfinity Data Platform (XDP) team. XDP is a cloud platform that manages configurations and operational data for millions of Xfinity routers, enhancing network connectivity for residential and business customers.

Core Responsibilities:

Design and develop new software and web applications, supporting existing applications under development.


Implement software updates for current applications and assist in rollouts and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) tasks.


Build low-latency, high-throughput server applications for large-scale data stream processing using big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, AWS Kinesis, SNS, SQS, OpenSearch).


Develop applications using Java/Scala, Python, microservices (Spring Boot), and NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB).


Monitor and evaluate performance metrics, ensuring system reliability and scalability.


Write and maintain technical documentation, including evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals.


Stay updated with industry trends and competitive applications/products.


Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and guide best practices.


Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure applications meet specifications.


Present and defend architectural and design decisions to internal teams.


Maintain consistent attendance and be available for nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.



Required Skills & Qualifications:

Strong expertise in Java/Scala, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.


Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Flink, Kafka) and AWS services (Kinesis, SNS, SQS).


Proficiency in NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB).


Knowledge of Python scripting and cloud-based development.


Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Must be local to Sunnyvale, CA, or willing to relocate (no remote work).


Mandatory in-person interview in Sunnyvale, CA.
