practical experience. 8 years of experience programming in Java,
Rust, or C++. 3 years of experience building software for data
privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management). 3 years
of experience in a technical leadership role. 2 years of experience
in a people management or team leadership role. Preferred
qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or
related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a
complex, matrixed organization. 3 years of experience in compute
infrastructure, Kubernetes/container software, Sandboxing, TEEs.

Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers
are just getting started and as a manager, you guide the way. With
technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across
multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee
the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites
internationally. As Software Engineering Manager of the Encrypted
Zone team, you will partner closely with Product Manager, T/PgM,
and Engineering teams to evolve and deliver the ability to run the
various services that make up Gemini on top of the Encrypted Zone
platform. You will also work closely with your peers working on
trusted infrastructure services, and DevOps, as well as DeepMind
teams to deliver a full stack solution. You will also coordinate
and collaborate closely with teams that work on Gemini as well as
Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs). The US base salary range for
this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 bonus equity benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and
additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and

Responsibilities Partner with Tech Leads (TLs) to define roadmaps
and drive the delivery of scalable private computing platforms on
TEEs, from technical goals to production. Manage trade-offs using
AI tools and best practices to address technical debt and ensure
long-term platform health, and vet system designs. Lead, manage,
and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical
guidance to foster growth, collaboration, and high engineering
quality. Set team priorities aligned with organizational goals,
connecting work to customer impact using Specific, Measurable,
Achievable, Relevant, Time bound (SMART) goals and cross-team
alignment. Maintain relationships with distributed teams in the
USA, Poland, and UK to align agendas and solve complex
technical/organizational problems.
