DescriptionHelp find quality foster homes for our dogs.At Guide
Dogs for the Blind, we prepare highly qualified guide dogs to serve
and empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired
throughout the U.S. and Canada. We sometimes need to tap into our
remarkable pool of volunteers to open their hearts and homes to our
dogs that need temporary care in a comfortable environment near one
of our campuses. As Foster Care Coordinator, you will facilitate
the successful placement of dogs into appropriate settings,
assisting with recruitment, retention, and recognition of Foster
Care Providers (FCPs).What you'll do:Respond to queries involving
the foster care program, interview applicants for prospective
placements, and maintain applicant and volunteer recordsConduct
interviews, at GDB and in-house, of new FCPs to assess home safety,
condition of other pets, and applicants' skillsCounsel and provide
training for FCPs about dog behavior, care, and handling, including
introducing dogs to new homes and managing behavior and medical
problemsEvaluate each dog's medical needs, behavior, and
temperament, and review all available quality placements for the
animalsArrange details of placement and provide updates to staff as
neededStay in communication with FCPs to reassess plans for
individual dogs and meet their changing needsProvide dog care
supplies for foster care providers and maintain inventory of foster
care supplies, including ordering items as neededWhat you'll

need:Demonstrated understanding of customer service and successful
interaction with the publicExperience in assessing dogs' health,
temperaments, and behaviors and/or conducting dog training,
behavior modification, and placementExperience using Salesforce,
Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to safely handle a
variety of large breed dogs, weighing up to 90 poundsAvailability
to work 30 hours a week, including weekendsExcellent time
management skills with the ability to work independentlyGuide Dogs
