The Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin (is looking for a Full Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our new Neurology department. This schedule is Tuesday- Friday, 8AM-630PM.About PESCM: PESCM, located in San Rafael, is the only 24/7 emergency and specialty practice in Marin County. We continue to see record breaking cases in all departments: Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Neurology, Urgent Care, Emergency/Critical Care, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology. We are all in this together!Veterinary Technicians at PESCM are responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. In addition to veterinary technician skills such as patient restraint, administering medications, IV catheter placement, and phlebotomy, technicians in the Neurology department will be responsible for the following:About the Job: As an RVT in the Neurology Department you will be responsible for:Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are requiredVenipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; digital radiography; patient prep and recovery; epidural administration; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of anesthetized procedures including, but not limited to, CT and MRIAssisting doctors during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and educationPerforming sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical proceduresAdvocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patientsKnowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applicationsAbility to work occasional holidays/weekends, and OT as neededAbout You:Minimum 2 years' experience in the veterinary field with strong anesthesia experience a mustStrong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a mustAccuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIsProficiency in record keeping related to medical procedures including daily treatments administered, patient status, procedures completed, supplies used, and anesthetic recordsReview and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient careComprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is requiredRVT or VTS preferredAbility to work in a highly collaborative environment and a commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is requiredMaintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in stressful situationsThe ability to deliver exceptional client service is a priorityAbility to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and communityPositive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expectedHonesty, integrity and a desire to learn and have fun!Benefits of working with us:We offer desirable alternative work schedules, a competitive bay area wage and comprehensive benefits plan to include medical/dental, 401k, paid time off, scrub allowance, generous Pet Benefit Plan, Continued Education opportunities, and Commuter benefit, as most of our staff travel from outside of Marin County, often passing other specialty practices!PESCM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
