The Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin (www.pescm.com)
is looking for a Full Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join
our new Neurology department, Tuesday- Friday, 830AM-7 PM.About
PESCM: PESCM, located in San Rafael, is the only 24/7 emergency and
specialty practice in Marin County. We continue to see record
breaking cases in all departments: Internal Medicine, Oncology,
Surgery, Neurology, Urgent Care, Emergency, and Critical Care. Our

improve our medicine, our service, our communication, and
ourselves. PESCM utilizes the cloud-based management software
system, Ezyvet, which integrates with an iPad accessible patient
treatment sheet software, Smartflow, for a paperless billing system

Veterinary Technicians at PESCM are responsible for a variety of
tasks related to customer service and patient care within the
veterinary practice. In addition to veterinary technician skills
such as patient restraint, administering medications, IV catheter
placement, and phlebotomy, technicians in the Neurology department
will be responsible for the following:About the Job: As an RVT in
the Neurology Department you will be responsible for:
- Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound
judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a
team are required
- Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations
and administration; digital radiography; patient prep and recovery;
epidural administration; anesthesia monitoring for a variety of
anesthetized procedures including, but not limited to, CT and
MRI
- Assisting doctors during patient appointments, providing
outstanding client communication and education
- Performing sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical
procedures
- Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort,
diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients
- Knowledge of the equipment and materials used and their
availability and applications
- Ability to work occasional holidays/weekends, and OT as needed
About You:
- Minimum 2 years experience in the veterinary field with strong
anesthesia experience a must
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational
skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a
must
- Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents,
fluids, and CRIs
- Proficiency in record keeping related to medical procedures
including daily treatments administered, patient status, procedures
completed, supplies used, and anesthetic records
- Review and understanding of all medical records pertinent to
patient care
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic
monitoring is required
- RVT or VTS preferred
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and a
commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues,
clients, and community is required
- Maintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in
stressful situations
- The ability to deliver exceptional client service is a
priority
